What it does
Voice dictation mode
Press a global shortcut, speak, and the transcript is auto-copied to your clipboard. Multi-round dictation accumulates text across recordings.
Audio file transcription
Drop in an mp3, m4a, wav, mp4, mov, or any other audio/video file (up to 25 MB / 20 min). ChatGPT's Whisper transcribes it — no API key needed.
Zero configuration
Install and start talking. No setup, no accounts, no API keys, no third-party transcription services. Uses your own ChatGPT session.
How to use
Install
Add Micly from the Chrome Web Store. No account, no setup.
Open ChatGPT
Sign in once at chatgpt.com (free or paid plan both work).
Speak or upload
Press the keyboard shortcut to dictate, or click "Transcribe audio" to upload a file. Text auto-copies to your clipboard.
Your data stays yours
Micly accesses your microphone only when you activate it. Uploaded audio files go directly from your browser to your own ChatGPT session — never to our servers. We don't store, transmit, or have access to your audio or transcriptions.
